How do I avoid spending my resources without a plan in Dragonfire?

The silent trap: spending Breedmarks, Cores, Relics and Meat piecemeal, with no target. You advance a little everywhere, so nowhere in particular.

A healthy spending plan follows this progression hierarchy:

1. Research for the troop type your roster carries best (the biggest multiplier — check which type fits the most of your dragons, not just whichever is #1 by a hair).
2. "All breeds: Initiative" research (global, permanent).
3. Breed research for your hitters (per-breed Damage).
4. Stars on dragons that unlock a combo tier (6★/10★).
5. Permanent (stars, Habits, Heirlooms) before disposable (buildings, Reign Level).

The typical misalignment to fix: having maxed one troop type (e.g. Spearmen 5/5) while your roster mostly fits another (e.g. Archers, carried by 7+ dragons). You're paying for research that serves only part of your dragons.

Before every big spend, ask: *is it permanent? does it help the most of my dragons/armies?*
