Leaderboards

How does the alliance leaderboard work in Game of Thrones: Dragonfire?

The alliance leaderboard rewards your alliance — the only persistent group in the game, since it doesn't get reshuffled every season the way factions do. The usual criterion: eliminating enemies.

Why the alliance matters so much:

  • It's your stable group: your alliance mates stay the same from one reign to the next, unlike your faction.
  • Alliance leaderboard rewards go to every member.
  • A well-coordinated alliance dominates the Seats, the alliance campaign objectives and the leaderboards at the same time.

How to climb: organise grouped attacks (several members on the same target to finish it fast), share your scouting, and defend each other. A tight alliance multiplies what any member could do alone. Join an active alliance — it's one of the biggest reward levers in the game.

How does the individual player leaderboard work?

The player leaderboard rewards your personal performance, mainly defeating defenders (fights won against held targets). The more enemies you crush, the higher you climb.

How to climb:

  • Chain winning attacks on defended targets (tiles, seats, enemy players).
  • Remember that damage accumulates: sending several waves at the same target finishes it reliably and counts toward your eliminations.
  • Play to your strengths: your most-researched troop type, dragons green for that type, a good Center aura.

Top players collect leaderboard tier rewards (gold, keys, Relics) at the end of the period. Aim for a realistic tier and farm steadily rather than cramming it all into the last hour — everyone else is doing the same.

How does the faction leaderboard work?

The faction leaderboard rewards your faction's collective performance (North / Central / South on Adel's map — factions are reshuffled every season). The main criterion: controlling Seats of Power.

What to understand:

  • It isn't you alone scoring: it's your whole faction. Your contribution adds to every other member's.
  • Controlling (holding over time) counts more than taking and losing — you have to defend what you conquer.
  • The big targets (capitals, King's Landing) weigh enormously.

How to help your faction win:

  • Coordinate with your alliance to take and hold strategic seats.
  • Answer defense calls when a controlled seat is attacked.

A good faction ranking unlocks rewards for all its members — a group effort that pays.

How to get X

How do I get Dragon Relics in Dragonfire?

Relics are the resource that hatches a dragon and then raises its Star Rank. You get them several ways:

  • Hatchery Chests: the main source. You open them with keys (Dragonbone, Dragonglass, Dragonfire) or with gold. Each chest gives 3 guaranteed rewards.
  • The Conqueror's Chest (premium): Epic/Legendary Relics only.
  • Targeted event chests (e.g. the Caraxes Chest, which boosts Caraxes and Zivern Relics).
  • The Market: buy a specific dragon's Relics with Relic Shards (e.g. Syrax x2 = 4,500 shards).

Good to know: 15 Relics of the same dragon = an immediate hatch, and any surplus converts into shards. Target one dragon at a time so you cross the thresholds fast.

How do I get keys to open Hatchery chests?

There are three Hatchery keys, in increasing value:

  • Dragonbone (the most common)
  • Dragonglass
  • Dragonfire (the rarest)

You mostly collect them through running events (reward tiers: besieging seats, spending gold/resources, daily login and so on), through leaderboards and in the Campaign. You can also open a chest directly with gold when you're out of keys.

Tip: save your best keys (Dragonfire) for the premium or event chests that offer Epic/Legendary Relics — that's where they pay the most. Don't open everything the moment you have a key: wait for a chest that targets the dragon you want to grow.

How do I get Cores to upgrade dragon Habits?

Cores are used to level a dragon's Habits (level 1→5). They're tied to rarity:

  • Rare Core 🔵 → upgrades Habits on Rare dragons
  • Epic Core 🟣 → Epic dragons
  • Legendary Core 🟡 → Legendary dragons

To level a Habit you need 2 items: a Breedmark (tied to the dragon's breed) plus a Core of the right rarity.

Where to find them:

  • The Market sells Cores (Rare / Epic / Legendary).
  • Chests and events hand them out (notably the Habit Growth event).
  • The store (dedicated offers).

Since Legendary Cores are rare, save them for your key Legendaries rather than sprinkling them around.

How do I get gold in Dragonfire?

Gold is the game's premium currency. It opens chests, speeds up research and construction, and buys from the store. You earn it without paying through several channels:

  • Event tiers (almost every event drops some gold).
  • The "Heirs of the Dragon" campaign: chapter rewards.
  • Leaderboards (player / faction / alliance).
  • Daily login and House Level progress.
  • Pre-registration: 100 gold granted (the Dawnseeker reward).
  • The Mercenary option: a random faction plus gold (one-time).

Advice: gold is precious, don't burn it on minor speed-ups. Save it to open premium chests or to unlock a dragon or builder that genuinely changes your account.

How do I get Meat to feed and level my dragons?

Meat raises a dragon's level directly, without fighting. Handy to catch a dragon up quickly early in a Reign.

Where to get it:

  • "Food" tiles on the map: send an army to farm those resource tiles (Lv.1 to 13 depending on the area).
  • Events and reward tiers (notably those tied to dragon hunting and raising).
  • Chests and campaign rewards.

Important: a dragon's level resets every Reign and there's a cap per campaign chapter. So there's no point stuffing a dragon past the current ceiling. Save your Meat to quickly re-raise your key dragons at the start of a new Reign, rather than dumping it all on one.

How do I get new dragons in Dragonfire?

A dragon hatches as soon as you gather 15 of its Relics. To get new dragons:

  • Hatchery Chests: the main route. With the Pity System you're guaranteed an Epic drop every 130 pulls and a Legendary every 250 pulls.
  • The Conqueror's Chest: Epic/Legendary Relics only (reward 1 = 75% Epic / 25% Legendary).
  • The Market: buy a targeted dragon's Relics directly with shards.
  • Special rewards: for instance Vaeldra (Epic), granted for linking your HBO Max account, and Dawnseeker via pre-registration.

Strategy: concentrate your pulls and your shards on one dragon at a time so you cross the 15-Relic threshold fast, instead of scattering.

How do I get and use Relic Shards?

Relic Shards come mostly from your surplus Relics: once a dragon has enough Relics, the excess converts into shards.

What they're for: at the Market, shards let you buy in a targeted way:

  • a specific dragon's Relics (e.g. Syrax x2 = 4,500 shards, Shimmer x225 = 37,500),
  • Cores (Rare / Epic / Legendary),
  • Hatchery keys.

It's the ultimate anti-bad-luck mechanism: if chests never give you the dragon you want, you pile up shards and buy its missing Relics directly. Rather than spending at random, set your shards aside to finish hatching a key dragon or to buy a hard-to-find Legendary Core.

How do I get Valyrian Tablets and the Heirloom currency?

Valyrian Tablets are a Heirloom currency — a permanent currency that doesn't reset between Reigns.

How to earn them:

  • Daily login: that's the main source (Valyrian Tablets drop for logging in each day).
  • House Level: it rises with House XP (earned by playing and logging in) and unlocks the Heirloom upgrades — the Heirloom system itself.

What they're for: upgrading your Heirlooms, permanent bonuses that follow you Reign after Reign. Since it's permanent, it's a safe investment. Make a point of logging in every day, even for 30 seconds: consistency on Valyrian Tablets matters far more over the long run than you'd think.

How do I get resources (wood, stone, iron) in Dragonfire?

The base resources — wood, stone, iron (and food) — feed your construction, research and recruitment. Three main sources:

  • Passive production: your buildings (Granary, Lumber Mill, Quarry, Foundry) generate them continuously (up to +6,000/h each at max level I). Remember to level the Storehouse (+500k capacity per resource) so you don't cap out.
  • Resource tiles on the map: send armies to farm neutral tiles (Wood/Stone/Iron/Food, Lv.1 to 13).
  • Rewards: events, tiers, campaign and chests all hand them out.

Timing tip: stockpile your resources and trigger your big spends during the Spend Gold/Resources event to harvest bonus tiers. And don't forget the Bannerman's Bargain research (−30% training cost) to make your iron last longer.

How do I get Breedmarks to upgrade Habits?

Breedmarks are the second ingredient (alongside Cores) for leveling a dragon's Habits. Where the Core depends on rarity, the Breedmark depends on the breed: you need the Breedmark matching the breed of the dragon you want to upgrade.

Where to find them:

  • Chests and events, notably Habit Growth, which is built around this system.
  • The Market and the store (targeted offers).
  • Campaign and leaderboard rewards.

A reminder on a Habit's cost: 1 Breedmark (breed) + 1 Core (rarity) per upgrade, to take each Habit from 1 to 5.

Strategy: since you need both items at once, check that you have a Breedmark AND a Core before you start, and concentrate them on the dragons whose 5th Habit (the strongest) is worth the cost.

What is the Conqueror's Chest and how do I get it?

The Conqueror's Chest is a premium chest built around quality: it only contains Epic and Legendary Relics (never common or rare ones).

Its key trait: reward 1 is guaranteed 75% Epic / 25% Legendary. In other words, every opening moves you seriously closer to a high-end dragon, unlike standard chests where you can pull a lot of commons.

How to get and open it:

  • It opens at the store/Hatchery, usually with quality keys (save your Dragonfire keys for this) or with gold.
  • Use the Hatchery Chests events to stack tiers while opening it.

Strategy: if your goal is to unlock or grow a Legendary, the Conqueror's Chest is far more efficient than common chests. Save your best keys and your gold for it.

Events

How does the Hatchery Chests event work and what does it pay?

The Hatchery Chests event rewards opening chests during the event window. Each chest opened advances a tier bar that unlocks prizes.

What to keep in mind:

  • Each chest already gives 3 guaranteed rewards (Relics, sometimes an Elite Drop = 100 Relics, or even a Super Drop = 1,000).
  • The Pity System guarantees an Epic every 130 pulls and a Legendary every 250.
  • On top of that, the event adds tier rewards (keys, gold, Cores).

Strategy: if you've been stockpiling keys, this is when you spend them — you collect both the chests' Relics and the event tiers. A double harvest.

How does the Besiege Seats event work and how many points does each target give?

The Besiege Seats event rewards taking Seats of Power on the map. Each seat taken gives points by level:

  • Lv.1 seat: +100 points
  • Lv.2 seat: +125
  • Lv.3 seat: +250
  • Capitals (Lv.4): +1,250
  • King's Landing: +20,000 (by far the most profitable target)

Those points push you up the event's reward tiers (keys, gold, Relics) and often count toward the faction leaderboards (controlling seats).

Strategy: coordinate with your alliance to go for the big-point targets. A single capital or King's Landing capture is worth dozens of small seats. Don't scatter your armies over Lv.1 seats if a Lv.4 target is within reach.

How does the Habit Growth event work?

The Habit Growth event rewards you for upgrading your dragons' Habits (with Breedmarks + Cores). Each upgrade earns points that push the event tiers.

Two important scoring rules:

  • Higher-rarity dragons pay more points per upgrade (a Legendary > an Epic > a Rare).
  • Each dragon's 5th Habit pays more than the others — a sign that it's also usually the most powerful (the set Habit that reinforces the Order).

Strategy: if you've stockpiled Cores and Breedmarks, wait for this event to spend them. Prioritize upgrades on your Legendary dragons and target their 5th Habit to maximize both the power gained and the event points and rewards.

What does the Dragon Hunt event pay?

The Dragon Hunt event rewards fighting the map's wild targets (Hunters, Wildlings, Outlaws, Shadowcats, Boars… their power ≈ level × a multiplier). Each target defeated gives event points and direct rewards.

What you typically earn: Meat (to level your dragons), dragon XP, keys, gold and sometimes Relics through the tiers.

Two useful levers here:

  • The Combat Training research (+2.5%/level dragon XP in PvE) speeds up leveling while you hunt.
  • The Relentless Assault research (+1.5%/level damage vs PvE) kills targets faster.

It's the ideal event to farm Meat and XP while banking free tiers.

How does the Spend Gold and Resources event work?

The Spend Gold/Resources event rewards you simply for consuming gold, food, wood, stone or iron (construction, research, recruitment, speed-ups). Every expense pushes a tier bar.

The trick is timing: don't launch your big spends just anywhere. Stockpile your resources and your expensive projects (a costly research, a big recruitment wave, a building upgrade), then trigger it all during this event. You then get:

  • the upgrade/result you wanted anyway,
  • plus free tier rewards on top (keys, gold, Cores, Relics).

It's "free" reward on an action you were going to take regardless. Learn to spot when this event is coming and keep reserves ready to spend.

What does daily login pay in Dragonfire?

Daily login is the simplest reward in the game: just log in each day to bank prizes. It's also one of the most profitable over time.

What you earn:

  • Valyrian Tablets (a permanent Heirloom currency, see the dedicated article),
  • House XP, which raises your House Level (and unlocks the Heirloom upgrades),
  • gold, keys and various resources depending on the day.

Why it's crucial: most of these rewards are permanent (Valyrian Tablets, House Level) — they don't reset between Reigns. Miss a day and it's simply gone: there's no catch-up. Log in every day, even for 30 seconds — it's the best effort-to-reward investment in the game.

How does the Upgrade Stronghold event work?

The Upgrade Stronghold event rewards you for raising your Stronghold tier and your buildings. Each upgrade gives points that unlock reward tiers.

As with "Spend Gold/Resources", it's all about timing: upgrading a building or passing a Stronghold tier is part of your normal progression, so you may as well do it during this event to collect the bonus rewards.

Two things to know:

  • Passing a Stronghold tier is what pays the most points — keep a big upgrade in reserve.
  • The campaign requires Stronghold Tier 10 before the Reign ends, so using this event to push your Stronghold kills two birds with one stone (campaign objective + event rewards).

Prepare your resources in advance so you can chain upgrades the moment the event starts.

What's the difference between Besiege and Control Seats (faction)?

Two similar but distinct events revolve around Seats of Power:

  • Besiege Seats: rewards the act of taking a seat (points on capture, see the dedicated article). It's individual — your points, your tiers.
  • Control Seats: rewards holding a seat over time, and mainly counts toward the faction leaderboard. It's collective — your faction scores.

The strategic consequence:

  • For your personal rewards, go for captures (capitals, King's Landing = big points).
  • For the faction leaderboard, you need to take AND hold: coordinate with the alliance to defend what you've conquered so control points accumulate.

The real jackpot is when the two overlap: you take a big target and you keep it.

What does the Upgrade Star Rank event pay?

The Upgrade Star Rank event rewards you for raising your dragons' Star Rank (by spending their Relics). Each star gained gives points that push the event tiers.

It's an excellent moment to cross a tier you were aiming at anyway, because:

  • Star Rank is permanent (it never resets) — so it's already a good investment in itself.
  • The event hands you bonus rewards (keys, Cores, gold) on top of an upgrade you were going to make.

Strategy: stockpile Relics on one or two key dragons while no event is running, then trigger the star upgrades during this event. You bank the permanent power and the tiers. Prioritize tiers that unlock a big effect (e.g. 6★ to switch on the Panic engine) or your Legendaries (+20% stats per star).

Campaign

How does the Heirs of the Dragon campaign work?

The "Heirs of the Dragon" campaign is the Reign's major story event: 11 chapters plus an epilogue, over roughly 40 days (the length of a Reign).

Structure:

  • Each chapter opens objectives to complete and unlocks rewards.
  • You progress by doing normal game actions (conquering castles/capitals, dealing siege damage, and so on).
  • Key constraint: you must reach Stronghold Tier 10 before the end of the campaign, or you can't finish it.

It's a big source of rewards (keys, Relics, gold, resources) spread across the whole Reign. The right reflex: follow the campaign continuously rather than doing everything at the end — some chapters take time (Stronghold climb, conquests) and you don't want to be stuck 2 days from the deadline.

What are the campaign objective types (Personal, Faction, Alliance)?

Each campaign chapter offers three families of objectives, which gives you several ways to progress:

  • Personal objectives: what you do alone (beating defenders, dealing siege damage, conquering targets). You control these directly.
  • Faction objectives: completed by your whole faction (e.g. control X capitals). You contribute, but it's collective.
  • Alliance objectives: carried by your alliance (e.g. eliminating enemies, taking seats together).

The consequence: even on a day you barely play, your faction and alliance keep pushing their objectives forward. Conversely, your active contribution helps everyone.

Tip: look at which objectives your group is close to completing and concentrate your actions there — it's usually the fastest way to unlock the chapter reward.

How do I complete the siege damage and conquest objectives in the campaign?

A big chunk of campaign objectives revolves around seats and conquests: dealing siege damage, conquering castles, capitals, even King's Landing.

To clear them efficiently:

  • Level the Siege Precision research (+3%/level, up to +27%) to hit structures harder.
  • Build a siege-type army or use dragons with good siege affinity (Crimson, Kalspire and Zivern are siege-green on Adel's roster).
  • Damage accumulates across waves: a defender never heals, so chain armies onto the same target until it falls.

Coordination: big targets (capitals, King's Landing) usually need the whole alliance. They're worth enormous points and objectives for both the campaign and the siege events. Go for them as a group.

What is Tier 10 at the end of a Reign and why does it matter?

Tier 10 is the campaign's central requirement: you must reach Stronghold Tier 10 before the Reign ends to be able to finish the "Heirs of the Dragon" campaign (11 chapters plus an epilogue).

Why it matters:

  • Without Stronghold Tier 10 you get stuck on the last chapters and miss the epilogue and its final rewards.
  • The Stronghold climb takes time (resources plus build time), so it can't be salvaged in 2 days.

The plan:

  • Aim for Tier 10 well before the Reign's deadline.
  • Use the Upgrade Stronghold event to push your tiers and collect rewards at the same time.
  • Keep resources and speed-ups in reserve for the last tiers, which are the most expensive.

It's the structuring goal of your whole Reign: plan your progression around it.

How do I claim campaign and chapter rewards?

Campaign rewards aren't always automatic: as soon as an objective (Personal, Faction or Alliance) or a chapter is complete, you often have to claim the reward manually on the campaign screen.

The right reflexes:

  • Check the Campaign tab regularly: a badge usually marks rewards ready to claim.
  • Claim every chapter tier as soon as it's available (keys, Relics, gold, resources).
  • Don't forget the epilogue: it's the final reward, reachable only if you've finished the 11 chapters (and reached Stronghold Tier 10).

A common trap: letting unclaimed rewards pile up and missing the end of the Reign — depending on the game, unclaimed prizes can be lost at the reset. Get in the habit of claiming everything before the Reign ends.

Pre-registration

What rewards does pre-registration give (Dawnseeker, 100 gold)?

Pre-registration (before the 2 June 2026 release) offered launch rewards to claim once in game. The two main ones:

  • Dawnseeker — a free dragon (its Order is *Radiant Wings*).
  • 100 gold — a small starting purse.

These rewards are tied to your first login after launch: you have to claim the pack in the dedicated menu (often via the mail or welcome rewards).

If you pre-registered and don't see your prizes: check your in-game mail and the launch rewards/events screen. Note that pre-registration offers are one-off (tied to the game's launch) — they don't come back. If you're starting now, focus on the events and daily login currently running instead.

HBO Max

How do I link my HBO Max account and get the dragon Vaeldra?

Linking your HBO Max account (formerly Max / WB) to Dragonfire unlocks a confirmed in-game reward: the dragon Vaeldra (Epic), received immediately on linking — you don't have to wait for the show to air.

Vaeldra isn't just a cosmetic bonus: it's a Warrior with the *Lure* Order (Taunt — it forces enemies to strike it, taunting up to 3 targets). A useful control dragon to slot into your armies.

How to do it:

  • Go to the game's Account screen (where the WB/HBO Max promo appears).
  • Follow the HBO Max account linking procedure.
  • Claim Vaeldra once the accounts are linked.

It's one of the best free rewards in the game: an Epic dragon for a simple account link. Do it as soon as you can.

How do I get the per-episode rewards for House of the Dragon season 3?

On top of the dragon Vaeldra granted at linking, connecting your HBO Max account unlocks per-episode rewards for House of the Dragon season 3 (season 3 starts on 21 June 2026).

The principle: with each new episode aired, an in-game reward unlocks (resources, keys, gold, or items tied to the show's world). It's a stream of prizes spread across the whole season.

To benefit:

  • Link your HBO Max account early (ideally before 21 June) so you don't miss an episode.
  • Come back after each episode to claim the matching reward on the dedicated screen.
  • Keep an eye on the airing schedule: these rewards are time-bound and tied to episode releases.

It's recurring free loot for the whole season — don't let the weeks slip by unclaimed.
