What are the possible outcomes of a dragon fight in Dragonfire?

A fight runs up to 10 rounds (often only 1 or 2) and has 3 possible outcomes:

• Victory: you destroy the opposing army.
• Stalemate: both armies still have troops after 10 rounds — a draw.
• Defeat: your army is wiped out.

When a dragon runs out of troops it withdraws to the garrison; it isn't lost.

Worth noting: troop-type research weighs enormously (multipliers of ×11 to ×60 in combat), far more than a Champion aura (−27.5%) or green affinity (×1.2), which in turn sit above the matchup (±7%). So even at a stat disadvantage, good research plus attrition can turn a fight around.
